FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)
PRINT FAQ's
1. What type of files can I send to Fourblend.com
We recommend saving as a .PDF
You may also send the file in the following types: jpg, jpeg, psd, tif, tiff, eps, ai, and png
We prefer that you send .PDF and .EPS files with outlined fonts. These files are easier to handle and will likely speed up your turn-around. Remember to add crop marks and flatten your files before uploading.
2. What color mode should my files be in for print?
If you send us an RGB file, there is a chance that a color shift may occur and you may not be satisfied with your job. You should always start and finish your designs in CMYK color mode.
3. What resolution should my files have?
Files should be setup at a minimum of 300dpi resolution.
4. How should I set up my bleed and cropmarks?
Bleed must extend further than the cut line. Using one of our Fourblend.com Templates can help you visualize this. Please keep all text and anything you do not want cut at least .125" away from the cut line.
5. Does Fourblend.com accept borders on jobs?
Yes, but if the border is too close to the cutline, it may be cut off-center slightly.
6. Can I submit a front and back in the same file?
Yes, but if the border is too close to the cutline, it may be cut off-center slightly.
7. How can I make sure blues do not come out purple?
When using a blue in your design, always make sure to leave at least a 30% difference in your Cyan and Magenta values. 100% C 100% M 0% Y 0% K
Blue is close to purple in the CMYK spectrum. Remember, use a low amount of magenta whenever using high amounts of cyan to avoid purple.
8. What is rich black and how can I get it?
Rich black is an ink mixture of solid black, 100% K, with additional CMY ink values. This results in a darker tone than black ink alone. If you print black alone as 100% K, the resulting black may not be as dark as you might like.
We recommend using
C 60 M 40 Y 40 K 100
This will give you a deep, dark, rich black.
9. What is a print ready file?
- A 0.25 inch border containing no live area MUST be allowed for cutting.
- The size of the printed piece will be the document size that was ordered.
- Front and Back of document should be setup as two separate pages, do not create both sides in a single file. Please specify the front and back images in the file name (i.e front_myfilename.jpg, back_myfilename.jpg).
- Files should be setup at a minimum of 300dpi resolution.
- Files must be saved in CMYK format.
- All solid Black areas should be composed as a combination of C 60%, M 40%, Y 40%, and K 100%.
- We support the following file formats:
Adobe Photoshop (.psd) - FLATTENED
Adobe Illustrator (.ai or .eps) - Fonts converted to outlines/curves
We also accept the standard industry formats: .eps .pdf .tif .jpeg
10. What is the turnaround time for print products?
Turnaround starts from the time the file upload is complete. If a job has revised files, is placed on hold, or is not in a print ready format the turnaround starts from time the correct files are submitted. Also note: All booklets will receive an electronic proof that must be approved before the start of turnaround and printing.
Our turnaround times refer solely to production. If your order completes after 3:00 PM in the producing facility it may not ship until the following day. Free delivery orders will be delivered on the next scheduled day for your zone. It is our goal to release all jobs as soon as completion of production allows. The last day of your turn-around is not a guaranteed "in hands" date.
1 Business day* orders must be uploaded and approved by 9:00 AM
2-4 Business days* orders must be uploaded and approved by 9:00 AM
5-7 Business days* orders must be uploaded and approved by 9:00 AM
